Dixit is a very clever and engaging game. The game components are extremely simple, a large set of cards containing a collection of fantastical images.
But from this simple starting point, Dixit is able to build a game that is enjoyable for young and old alike.
It's fairly unique among board games because it relies heavily on imagination but is also competitive. Most games with a strong element of
imagination would not be scored or would award points based on popularity. Dixit is also notable because it helps exercise players' language skills.

The basic concept of this game is simple enough for young kids to understand and play. However there is a subtle strategy to choosing the right clues that they will likely not grasp. The game is also better when all players have a larger vocabulary and knowledge from which to think of clues. That all being said, young kids really seem to enjoy this game.
Can different skill levels or ages play together?
Yes. This is a good game for mixing new and experienced players. It also works well with players of various ages without impacting game play too greatly.
How long does it take to play?
20 - 40 minutes
Will we get bored after playing it a few times or does the game have good replayability?
This game is very replayable. The base game includes 84 different cards all of which can be interpreted in a variety of ways.
Setup/Cleanup
How much work is it?
Very Low. Shuffle the cards and deal them to each player, it couldn't be much simpler than this game.
Would kids be able to do it on their own?
Yes, though younger kids may need help scoring each round. It's not difficult, but there
are a few different options depending on how many players pick the correct card.
Will parents have fun too...
...when playing with the kids?
Yes. As a parent, it's a lot of fun to see the way your kids will interpret the cards.
...without the kids?
Yes. This makes an especially good social game for a casual group.
Educational Value
What skills will this game help develop?
Language Skills
Players must translate a scene into short thoughts for the other players to understand.
Imagination
The cards are purposefully ambiguous or funny in nature. This often requires players to stretch their
imagination to think of good clues or choose a card that could match the clue provided.
But will my kids actually have fun playing it?
Yes, this game is fun for the whole family including kids. Our four year old asks for this game nearly every night.
