Qwixx Deluxe is a fun, fast paced game. This is a game with little downtime because players have a chance to participate on others' turns. While it does not have deep strategy, each decision
is critical. The Deluxe version includes dry-erase boards in place of the paper scoresheets in the basic game. This is important because this is a game that will likely be played often. However,
be sure to check our Custom Rules section for a tip on how to increase the life of the game board.
While Qwixx is a genuinely fun game, it also has some great educational value. In fact, it is a Mensa Select national competition winner. Basic addition is used constantly in this game, so this
would be a great option for those needing to practice it.

Fast Facts
How many players?
- Playable with 2-8
- Best with 2-5
Because players have an opportunity to participate even when it's not their turn, this game can work with more players than most games.
What ages can play?
- Playable for ages 6 to Adult
- Best for ages 7 to Adult
Any kid that can add together two six sided dice will be able to play this game. The faster they can do this addition, the more fun it will be for them and the other players.
Can different skill levels or ages play together?
Yes, as long as each player can do simple addition fairly quickly. Younger players may be at a slight disadvantage if they cannot add as quickly as older players, but it is not significant and won't affect how others play.
How long does it take to play?
15 - 20 minutes
Will we get bored after a few games or does it have good replayability?
This game is very replayable because the luck of the dice play a fairly important role.
Setup/Cleanup
How much work is it?
No work at all. Setup is getting the dice, boards, and markers out of the box. Cleanup is erasing the boards and putting it all back in the box.
Would kids be able to do it on their own?
The setup and cleanup would not be a problem for kids. The only area they
may need help is adding scores at the end of the game, but even this will not be a major problem for most kids.
Will parents have fun too...
...when playing with the kids?
Yes. This game requires enough thinking to keep it interesting for adults.
...without the kids?
Yes. This game doesn't have really deep strategy, but is a quick, fast paced game for lighter gameplay.
Educational Value
What skills will this game help develop?
Addition
This is a great game for exercising basic addition skills. Each player will need to add together two six sided dice multiple times on their turn to choose the best pair to use.
Basic Probability
Deciding which numbers to use and which to cross off helps reinforce basic concepts of probability.
But will my kids actually have fun playing it?
Yes, while addition is a major element of this game, this will not feel like homework. The addition required is fairly basic so most players will not even notice they are using it.
Custom Rules
Improve life of the game boards
Laminate the game board
Some owners of the game have complained that the game boards will not erase fully. Or even worse, the numbers start to come off quickly
when erasing the boards. Laminating the boards before you play for the first time will prevent any such issues.
Help those still learning addition compete better
Suggest one or two of the colored dice to use
The addition needed in this game is fairly basic, adding two numbers that are each between one and six. However,
a player must do this 8 times on their turn (adding each white die to each of the colored dice) to check all possibilities. Suggesting one or two
of the colored dice that would be best to use can help reduce frustration in some younger players.
Group the dice to see quickly which dice will not work
The standard board starts with low numbers for red and yellow and high numbers for blue and green.
After the dice are rolled, place the red and yellow next to one another, the two white dice together below that, and the blue and green together below those. This will place them in an order similar
to the board. This can help younger players focus better and simplify the game a little. It allows them to look for lower numbers up top and larger numbers below, dismissing unusable options quickly,
focusing on adding the best options first.
