Silly Street is a fantastic game for younger kids. It's so much fun and does a wonderful job of getting players involved and interacting with one another. Each turn a player will draw a card that presents them with a challenge. This could be a challenge for that player only, with another player they pick, or the group as a whole. And these challenges cover so many different skills. Make up a fun story, sing a song, say something nice about another player, have a staring contest, and the list goes on and on. We've included some of our favorites in the photos below, but there are 55 different cards and most of them are a lot of fun. There are few other games out there like this. The only real downside is that kids may outgrow it around the age of 10, but it's hard to beat before that.

Fast Facts

How many players?

  • Playable with 2 or more
  • Best with 3 - 4

Social interaction is a key to this game so it plays best with 3 to 4 players, but it's possible to play with less or more. Only four playing pieces are included, but small toys can easily be used in their place if needed.

What ages can play?

  • Playable for ages 3 to Adult
  • Best for ages 4 to 10

Can different skill levels or ages play together?

Yes. This is a fun, social game that does not require any deep strategy and mixing ages can actually make it more fun. Kids above the age of 10 may get bored with it quickly, but any kids younger than that can play together without issue.

How long does it take to play?

10-15 minutes

Will we get bored after a few games or does it have good replayability?

This game is very replayable. There are a lot of different cards and it's such a fun game that even using the same ones over again is not a problem.

Setup/Cleanup

How much work is it?
Low. Assemble the game board (which is a 10 piece puzzle) and shuffle the cards, that's all there is to it.

Would kids be able to do it on their own?
Yes, as long as one of those playing is able to read the cards to the others.

Will parents have fun too...

...when playing with the kids?
Yes. This game provides a fantastic way to have some silly, carefree fun with your kids.

...without the kids?
No, while some of the cards (such as staring contest) would be funny at first, there's not really enough depth to play it with only adults.

Educational Value

What skills will this game help develop?

Creativity, Communication, Social Interaction, Language Skills
This game helps foster so many soft skills in an easy approachable way. Kids may need to invent a story, have a staring contest with another player, sing a song, find rhyming words, or express some emotion. One of our favorites has the whole group stand on one leg for a flamingo contest. There are so many fun ideas included on the cards. See the photos above for more examples.

But will my kids actually have fun playing it?

Yes, that is never a problem with this game.

Custom Rules

Increase overall fun of the game

Remove the less desired cards
Almost all of the cards in the game are good, if not great. There are a few, however, that are not very challenging or fun. And these cards usually only allow the player to move one space. So we simply remove these cards from the deck when we play.

Use some of the 1 on 1 cards for the whole group
Some of the cards tell the player to have a 1 on 1 challenge with another player. A few of these are so much fun, such as the staring contest, smiling contest, and rock-paper-scissors, that our other kids felt like they were missing out by not getting them. Especially when it meant they didn't get to compete against mom or dad. So we've basically turned these into full group contests by making them tournament style. Players pair off in individual contests and the winners then face each other. These are such short contests anyways that it really doesn't add much time but makes the game even more fun.
